Yesterday was a big news day for our company. At Uniti’s press event in Silverstone, we announced a new equity crowdfunding campaign through Crowdcube and revealed more about our plans to produce our first electric cars in the UK.
Lewis Horne, CEO, announced our plan to establish the first fully digitalized EV production site at Silverstone Park, the home of the British Grand Prix. The UK-based pilot production plant will be used to produce the Uniti One electric car, while serving as a blueprint for globally licensed assembly plants throughout the world. As we enter new markets, this “factory-in-a-box” model can be designed to tailor Uniti facilities for the needs of each new market.
Uniti’s Vehicle Development Director Sally Povolotsky presented the concepts of i4.0 manufacturing and “digital twinning.” Digital twinning is highly important for us as it allows Uniti to create cars at the source of demand and as such, reduces the rail, air, and sea freight of our vehicles being transported globally. This encourages a sustainable, localised eco-system for developing our cars with the aim of reducing emissions and generating both jobs and revenue within our chosen markets.
To help support our vision for the UK and beyond, we are offering a limited number of shares to be made available through the Crowdcube platform next month. We anticipate this equity crowdfunding campaign to go quickly, which is why we’re offering our community priority access to our investment page before it goes live to the general public.
